About the Hours Calculator

Decimal Hours for Payroll

Many payroll and billing systems require time in decimal format. To convert manually, divide the minutes by 60 and add them to the hours. For example, 8 hours and 45 minutes = 8 + (45/60) = 8.75 decimal hours. This calculator handles the conversion automatically.

Overtime and Time Tracking

To calculate weekly overtime, use the Time Card tab to enter all your shifts for the week. The total will show your combined hours. In the US, overtime typically begins after 40 hours per week. Some states and industries have daily overtime rules (typically after 8 or 12 hours in a single day).
